Short Description

This pack of classes, also available separately, is geared towards professionals and entrepreneurs who are looking to learn new tools and approaches to better run their businesses and create effective brands. Because of the difficulties raising money in the current economic context, it also includes classes focusing on traditional and aternative sources of funding, as well as an introduction to financial management.

The following sessions are the sessions corresponding to the 2016 edition, information of the 2017 edition will be updated at the end of January.

7.1 Basic Finance for Entrepreneurs (part 1)

Course outline: Professor Mario López de Ávila will cover key topics of finance for entrepreneurs. The approach is different from entrepreneurial finance (as the way we are teaching finance to entrepreneurs isn't the way it should be done). Mario teaches the key concepts of finance as they apply to the three different stages of the start-up process: first, early stage start-ups; second, when one of the founding members take charge of finance; and third, when the company is big enough to need to take care of its finances. Thanks to Mario, an entrepreneur can understand which concepts to focus on when speaking with financial experts.

7.3 How to Use Technology to Run a New Venture

Course outline: The partners at Roca Salvatella will discuss free and cheap software tools that can be used to run a new company. Genís Rica will cover the following topics: how to keep track of your numbers in terms of accounting, how to brand your company on social media, how to keep track of the competition, how to do market research, and information about comparative intelligence.

7.4 Funding for Entrepreneurs

Lecturer: Raúl Martín-Ruíz

Course outline: In funding for entrepreneurs, given by Raúl Martín Ruiz, you will learn the main concepts behind funding and the different types of funding that entrepreneurs can tap into, from a venture capital perspective. Raúl will talk about professional investors, such as business angels, venture capitalists and accelerators. He will cover the value chain of the venture capital industry, and explain the main concepts behind the different steps that an entrepreneur must take into account.

7.5 Public Funding & Accelerators

Course outline: Roger Piqué, from Inveready, will present sources of funding for new ventures from a public perspective. He will talk about Catalan, Spanish and European governments as well as the possibility of accelerators. He will also provide an in-dept look at the pre-requirements and requirements for the different public funds available for entrepreneurs.

7.6 Management Tools for CEOs, Managers & Entrepreneurs (part 1)

Lecturer: Jorge Juan Fernández

Course outline: This lesson will be given as a mini-MBA, covering the key topics: entrepreneurship, strategy, operations, marketing, finance, organization, innovation, people management, change management and leadership. This is particularly relevant for new managers or entrepreneurs running new companies.

7.8 Naming & Branding
